2007 Columbia River Brigade Update

Dear friends, David Thompson fans and paddlers!

It is just two weeks before the start of the 2007 Columbia River Brigade. This will be a very short note to bring you up to date on what is happening. Obviously, we are very busy with last minute details but are getting excited.

We finally got word that one of the funding agencies we had applied to approved our application. We now have the budget to not only run a very exciting event, but we also have the funds to put on the David Thompson Heritage Stage Show in the communities along the mighty Columbia River and produce an Educational video. You can follow the exploits of the 8 canoes as they make their way along the 14 day journey. Modern GPS tracking units will be placed in each canoe and will update positions every 30 minutes from 0800 to 1700. A small canoe icon representing each canoe will be displayed on a Google Earth map that you can access from June 27 to July7.
